i did my mini project on digital lock code using at89c2051 microcontroller....

Why can't you use Wireless? in you embedded project. use TX433 and RX433 for wireless purpose. use this to get the data from remote sensors. and you can use CP2102 for USB to TX and RX converter which can be output level at TTL logic
