i recently bought a micro controller model p80c51bh and i have to find the data sheet for it. and i manage to get 2, 1 is from Intel and another is from Philips. but i have a question on which is the actual manufacture, because there is an " i " logo there which i believe is stand for Intel but there is a line where IBM is also printed and i can't find any data related this model and IBM on GOOGLE so i need help from you guys here to help me to identify so that i can get the correct data sheet for my micro controller.

i have attach the picture of the micro controller.

thank you very much.

hi aik,
looks like u have acquired a romless 8051 which means the u need to interface a external RAM to it in order to execute any code as the IC itself does not have any program memory. It would have been a lot better if u had purchased a uC with the 89XX tag as these have a flash memory which can be easily erased/reprogrammed, ideal for development stage of a uC based product.

805X --- romless
875x --- EPROM based program memory
895X --- flash based program memory

P.S. there are some preprogrammed bytes inside the uC called signature bytes. if u can read them through a programmer, u can pinpoint the manufacturer as each one have their own distinct signature code for each product.

omg.. this is really a bad news to me...
looks like i have to buy my self a 895X ... this 1 belong to atmel right?
and i have a very simple question to ask also... the 895X which u say can be erased mean that i can flash the micro controller for unlimited times?

well, i think it is an OTP IC i.e. one time programmable. this is similar to an EPROM memory the only difference being that the written code cannot be erased/reprogrammed (no window provided to erase the data by exposing it to UV light).
I would recommend u go for the phillips 89c5XRX series or the atmel 89SXX series as they are ISP programmable . ( the programmer ckt is easy and can be built by u with a few components).
