Hi. we have confronted a seriouse problem with ATmega2561 Micro. We use it in an embedded system with switching power in buses. Device works for a while properly and suddenly the application stops running. It seems that application in internal flash has disappeared. what is your suggestion and how can we prevent this? Our brown out fuse settings are good.

how can you be so sure that application has disappeared?

did you try reading the flash content or verifying the flash?

Is there any voltage fluctuation? Hope its been taken care?

Problem seems very strange.

how did u confirm that the internal flash has 'disappeared'? the flash memory does not usually get corrupted or erased even when ur system gets invaded by an occasional external EM pulse. I seriously think ur system might be getting sht down due to overheating or some other problem. A good make 7805 regulator has overheating shut down protection when excess current passes through it without any suitable heatsink.Have u tried to shut down the system after the error occured and turned it on after some time and checked?

I think you must review your circuit and board, they have good protection from EMI/ESD and electrical surges. Do get your PCB checked.
