Hello everyone,
Is there a way to interface a GSM module so that the controller attached to it externally (8051) can create an IVR menu.
For example, i call a specific mobile number and it starts a menu. e.g
Please press 1 for system status
Press 2 for system shutdown etc etc.

you can make use of voice playback ICs and give o/p directly to MIC In of GSM module. and speaker can be connected to DTMF Decoder. you can easily make such IVR system.

You mean like the input of the GSM module connected with DTMF ?
Are there going to be any modems involved ?

GSM modules *are* modems.
Most have pins to allow connections to microphones and speakers
so they can act as telephones if wanted.

Can you suggest me any good GSM Module (company) or GSM Handset i could start my experiment with ?
I am very new to this stuff. Also the IC for playback would be greatealy appreciated.
