I was talking about LINUX in ARM for that u require large ram and flash and maximum ARM7 processor available is having 512KB of flash so it just like impossible to load all images in ARM 7 processor thats why i talked about arm9

I dont think so,because he told that he wants to control webcam using arm and that becomes possible only when u have an operating system like linux or WIN CE on the arm

no thats not necessary always all you need is to write drivers for that webcam... get the technical information on how webcam works thats all.. also.. for code reference you can use the linux device drivers for that webcam if the company supply you the codes

see operation of webcam requires a large memory, and writing a device drivers for an ARM processor is not a joke although if u say that everything is possible ,I will take my point back ,and my point is clear that u can not use arm7 processor either for using webcam or installing linux on it due to insufficient memory and many other problems.

he junied ...
ever tried lpc 2294???
who said u cant port linux on arm....
that is what u call rtlinux....
just exclude the things u dont require..... recompile the source... u will have it done.......
or you can find out other rtos that wud work exactly the same way as linux does....
ex....
for webcam u need file management, memory management, interrupt based schedular... just take the source file of any linux kernel use the schedular algorithms embedding your code with it.. it will be done....
and webcam can be interfaced with arm .....
what i mean is ... if u ever tried ARTX, you will just have to include the source file ARTX.c with your code... now you can use the basic schedular functions... similarly there are other rtos online both free and commercial ... now we have to choose the perfect one for us....

now the problem is to convert data from webcam to jpg/bmp format and store it to the flash memory... yeah you are right arm 7n do not have much memory... the flash memory can be used for storing data temporarily then it can be transferred to a memory card... try making one using i2c EEPROMs whenever u need ... the flash can be overwritten any number of time....
now to convert raw data to bmp format u have to catenate data with the bmp header try searching details on net....
once it is done . 80% of the work is done..
