Which type PIC on Ultrasonic Anemometer??

hello everyone, i am trying to construct an ultrasonic anemometer , but i have a problem with my circuit, i have to change my circuit's processor which is Motorola 68HC11A1FN with a PIC type microprocessor, but i didnt decide which type should I use, 16F877a is appropriate for it?

looks like you're just using controller to control GPIOs so you can use even smaller PIC that can suit your job. but if your preference is 16F877a then i guess its fine.
