Hi Rickey ,
Here is my 1st time to visit your site ~ I feel it's so amazing on it. Once I tried your home automation.
As I need to build a CGI web site for remote control the MC via a serial port. Best , according to your C file, both cannot build in VC++ or VC, huge number of errors compiled.

Here I do wish you can give me some answer about my enquiry.
1. Based on your source, only C files exist, Do I need to write a 8051 assembly language to MC.
2. As HA.hex file is provided, is it converted file from 8051 assembly language? If Yes, can you provide the 8051 assembly source code on site??
3. As HA C file cannot build and execute in VCC and VC , can you tell me how to convert it worked in VCC or VC ? or any solution can execute it?
4. Also , I want to know HA C file provided whether execute in CGI or not ?

I highly look forward to see your reply as soon as possible.
THx a lot !!!!

The C files are for MC not for the software, and it can be only compiled with Keil (C cross compiler for 8051). The project is specially designed to work with HAserver (A telnet server).

No you need not to write assembly code, coz the code is written in C already, the C files are provided in the zip that you downloaded.

HA.hex is converted from the C files using Keil C compiler for 8051. Writing such program in assembly will be little difficult.

Use keil C compiler. you can get it from www.keil.com (demo 2K code limit)

no CGI not possible. I am soon making a project, in which you have a webserver software written in Java, so HTML webpages are interface for your home. you can get more idea here www.rickeyworld.info/news56.html

Hope that helped

Thx Rickey's reply.

I still want to ask some question.
1) As I need to build a web site, do I just build web page as interface, which are individual part as control panel to send a data or bit via RS-232 to MC ??
Is there any protocol on that ??

2) Could you please tell me how to inplement the MC via the web page ?
If you can , could you please tell me the implementaion of your VB?

Thx a lot ~~

There is no special protocol or something.. but, you need to make separate interface for serial communication. I mean, simply making a webserver wont help, you must interact with MC to send and receive data.

Its not in VB i wrote in Java, you can do it in VB too. its simple. While displaying the webpage, read from MC and send it to the webpage, search for webserver VB project in google, sure you will get a sample project. If i get time, i may make a VB compatible software. but right now.. its just Java.
try google for a webserver project, see how things are implemented, then maybe you can do something like that. try it out!!

Thx for Rickey's reply ~
According to your suggestion, I have tried to build a JAVA web site using JAVA Applet for controlling the serial port. However, once I run the JAVA Applet ~ the error msg is always displayed. the msg is "Caught java.lang.NullPointerException: name can't be null while loading driver com.sun.comm.Win32Driver ~

Hope you can help me ~ Thx Thx a lot ~

Do you have Javax.comm APIs installed? if not then you must install... I will be putting my home automation server online soon. so everyone can take a look... but noone will be able to login as, its my HOME
Please install javax.comm API and then try. The error wont come.
