rx tx shorted? strange.. did u check on PC for this? are u sure everything is getting echoed? because if that is the case, phone should not work at all. i suggest u to check again.

make sure echo is turned off in hyper terminal or whatever tool you are using.

ya .. they are shorted and the data i send is echoed back (and also the phone replies to the request(get hardware software version) i send ).. i use 'serial port monitor' for monitoring the serial port ... i think i can show u the log file of the serial port activities so that u can get a clear idea of wat actually happens... i am sending it as a private message to you .... pls check your inbox .. i'm also attaching the wiring of the cable along with that mail ...

i would like to tell u one more thing ... with the same cable, logo manager works very well .. i can send sms and can also read the contacts from the phone thru the logo manager with the same cable....

bye
thanks

RX and TX pin should not be shorted. I build my on cable based on the schematic from http://www.panuworld.net/nuukiaworld/hardware/cables/fbus.htm

The software I use for testing is Eltima Serial Port Monitor

hi ntung,

ya i too have seen that site ...the schematics are quite clear there ....but will that work for 3310 model ? have u tested it on 3310 ..?

logo manager works very well with the cable i'm using now ...
thats y i can't confidently conclude that the cable is wrongly wired ...

thanks

It works on my Nokia 3310. If it works on logo manager, then the cable should be fine.

Some Nokia's used M-bus ,some F-bus and some both.
M-bus transmits and receives on the same pin.

Some cables are switchable(and some badly made). Just a thought

I want to program the micro controller in a such a way that the mesage center number is read automatically from the phone before the message is framed and sent ... (user dont have 2 enter it manually each time the service provider is changed)

By the way, did u find out anything about the RX TX short ??

Thanks
bye

must be a problem in wire i guess.. you can open the backpanel of datacable to check the electronics behind it and find out why its showing short.

regarding message center, visit this page and search for "Get SMS Center" in that page you will get the packet format.
