hi sanath,
well, ur application is tricky as the conventional (and simplest method) of level measurement by dipping two electrodes in the liquid at different levels doesnot hold good as the liquid in question is highly inflammable and the method requires to pass some current(ac or dc) through the liquid.
So, u have to go for the potentiometric type of level measurement which involves considerable mechanical arrangement which is similar to the one used in your toilet flush tank. Just as the float in the tank rises with the level in ur tank and shuts off the inlet tap , u have to connect a resistance potentiometer to the other end of the float so that the resistance of the pot varies with the level. Now just convert the resistance variation into voltage and feed it to the processing circuit.
Hope u got the idea.

ultrasonic fluid level meters are available in the market..
u can make one yourself..

Hi guys,
Thanx so much for the valuable information.

Actually my requirements is that " Fuel level and temperatuer Monitoring and controlling system". Here I want to continuosly measure the fuel level as well as fuel temperature from the vehicle or any system and continulsy transmit this information to the owner through the mobile using GSM Technology. and if temperature exceeds that the critical value it has to shutdown the whole system with the help of relay mechanisms .For this I am loking out for the Sensor or some kind of probes that we can keep inside the fuel tank. Can anyone help me in this.

Hi Bengulurian,

chenna gidhira ?

about fuel level indicator you can make a simple four level indicator using CD4066 CMOS analog switches. but these probes need to be dipped in fuel which is the scary part, should some part smoke you'll be engulfed with fire

you can have four levels : hi,med, low, reserve

another method (if a discrete level measurement is acceptable) for level measurement is using the magnetic reed switches inside a hollow tube dipped inside the fuel tank which turn on when an external magnet enclosed inside a float is brought into its proximity.
