Hi. Does anyone know how to piggybag a switch to a potentiometer? Like in this diagram

Hello Mac,

it would require a lot of mechanical alteration between a switch and a normal pot to achieve what is shown in the diagram.

these kind of two-in-one pots are readily available in the electro stores, you can find this part in any old pocket transistor radio in which when you first turn the wheel, the radio gets on and slowly the volume also increases.

Thanks Arun. Any chance you know a part number for something that would work?

you can use 10k volume tone with on off switch commonly available in local elex market
it is used in portable black and white TV or pocket radio's volume controller pot with power switch

If radioshack's accessible, you can look up here for the part no... http://support.radioshack.com/support_electronics/doc21/21562.htm

It's this one .. VR001 10974780 POT W/SWITCH P7389

Does the pot need to be turned down every time you switch on/off? Else you could use a normal spst for the switch.
