well to program any controller you always need a circuit and yes you have to make it make the one you like...

I really do not know what you are asking.. But as i see you want to write and program a PIC microcontroller..
So you need these things..
1. Assembler/Compiler
2. A programmer (or Burner) circuit

You can get assembler from internet.. one of the famous design tool MPLAB is available for free from Microchip website www.microchip.com Just go to Products->Develipment tools->MPLAB IDE

Rest is the hardware which you need to program your IC is available at the top you can make it and directly work on it. Hope i have solved the problem now

erhny,
looks like u already know what is required...
u said assembler text editor ,hardware etc...
as ajay said MPLAB IDE is the best known till that..
it has assembler and programmer integrated to it...
i have a document which is actually a tutorial to mplab ... i'll have to search for it..(not used it for long...:D)
will post as soon as i get...
till then if u r interested in pic c programming go for ccs c compiler demo download or hitech picc download...
these two compilers are pretyy popular here in india....:)

Thank you very much Ajay and Shyam.Pls,I would want to know whether 8051's are better than PICs in RF circuits such as RFID security circuits.
