The tsop1736 works at 36 kHz
the tsop1736 works at 38 kHz.
Otherewise they are the same.

You will need to find a transmitter that
works at 38 kHz.
I don't know how common they are.
You will just have to try a few.

This is an old project.
Make sure PCcontrol.exe runs on your system.

PCcontrol.exe uses com1,com2 or com3.
If using a USB serial adapter you will need to re-name
the USB com port eg 'com20' in system settings.

This project is for a transmitter using the Philips RC5 format.
For any other type the code will need a large re-write.

The RC5 format does not specify the Infrared carrier frequency,
so modern versions my be 38KHz.
If you have a 38KHz, RC5 format remote,
the code should not need any changes.

I have to say I have a box of remotes and not one
works with any TV or DVD etc, other that the one it came with.
Don't try this project unless you are sure you have a Philips RC5 format
remote control.

These are possible modern alternatives to the TSOP1736
but check the pinout.
TSOP4136
TSOP2136

More specialised
TSOP4336
TSOP2336
TSOP4536
TSOP2536

Many PCs don't have a serial port, so you might need a
USB/serial adapter.
If you use a USB/serial adapter you don't need the
MAX232 chip in the diagram.
