well.. i say nothing is impossible what we can do is.. we can make a air mouse.. something like that.. so you wear some kind of glove in your hand and move it in air or on the screen to move the pointer.. this way.. a simple monitor can be used somewhat like a touch screen. what do you say?

i think u can use an extra transparent touch screen on your present screen and program it accordingly to your system

I have seen a touch panel mounted on LCD. It was some PIC microcontroller development kit. They did not mention any part number but they were charging high for it.

hi , u can use IR sensors in mattrix formate around the lcd monitor(the concept of keybord).and when u break the IR path using your finger it should click your mouse at the point fingure touch.u can implement it using 8051 and a little windows programing.all the best

well caze, its really a nice idea, and fairly cheap to implement. but what about the accuracy? i doubt the accuracy will be very less what do you say?

yes Ajay , accuracy will be less but not for all kinda application .appplications like dekstop, i guess u ll not be having any problem .. but if it is a small application like pda, mobiles or watch, there may occure some problem but that too can be hahdle by better programings. i have just implemented it on my dekstop (just for testing ) only using 4x4 IR .and it worked fine ...noe i am planing to increase the no of IR.lets see how perfect it works

touch screen can vell be implemented on the monitor...whats the size of ur minitor abbas??just calculate the cost...way too expensive...still the touch screen is a transparent sheet avaialable in almost all sizes...mostly interfaced to give parallel data that can be collected and sent serially to the com port or the LPT port of the PC. then its all about writing the driver for ur cursor..nice idea allover but a little bit costly i guess
