why gave you this tricky idea? I mean.. no doubt its good... but still very complicated for you i guess. use simple DC motors.. they are good and you can get whatever size and voltage you want.Regarding micro.. i must say... whatever architecture you know use that microcontroller. Because it will be easy for you to program it.

this project was given to us by our professorwe accepted it as a challenege and we're now stuck.we have made our basic idea but need someone to help us improve this idea.our idea:ball diameter : 3inchball colour : redcolour sensors : atleast 3, maximum 5 sensorsobstacle detector : atleast 3robotic arm (with rotation)placement:object sensor: 0.5inch above groundconsidering the ball is exactly in front of the robotcolour sensor:two at 1.5inch above ground (i.e. at centre of ball on either side of ball)& one 2.9inch above ground (i.e at top of the ball)& one 0.2inch above ground (i.e at base of ball).the problems arising are:1. if the ground is not exactly flat, then obstacle detectors (being close to the ground may generate errors)2. if there is a larger ball place, also red colour, then how should the robot behave3. while finding the ball (i.e rotating), the robot may get distracted or malfunction and may not stop at the exact postion4. we need a robotic arm working on digital input... either we'll make it ourself (as last resort) or buy it (provided we can program it the way we need) but the actual problem arising is that the robotic arm should move fluently towards the ball and should not goof-up while trying to grip it.could u share your idea, i mean... like how you would make such a robot.

I think if i was making this.. i will first try a straight approach and then make advancement according to the response received from the prototype.Ok..first i would try to make robot for a free size not for a particular size of ball.2. To find ball is a tricky part.. as we are also taking the obstacle into account. So.. i will make use of color sensors for this.. assuming that only the ball is of color red not the obstacle.so sensor should be good enough to track red color from a distance and then move towards it. This makes simple way of finding ball because you will not move towards obstacle while looking for a ball.3. to pick up the ball.. there should be something which can grip the ball properly.. as ball is round in shape so can slip easily. so the arm should have three or more rods hold holding the ball and to avoid loosing it.are you making the arm autonomous? if yes then its even more difficult if no then its easy as you can position it so that you get a perfect grip.any comment on this?

WELL my guide suggested me to use PII comp to interface it 2nd thing i am using raster scan method to scan it ball or obs or objso i can directly scan obj compress it & compare it with the actual ball image so to detect ball if it matches then it is ball if no then leave it
