my project is a navagational robot that autonomously avoids obstacles....i have just make it work to avoid obstacles........but the part of tranfering the distance of the obstacle (8 bit data) and the number of turn the robot made (count with in the program) is a difficult part......my purpose is to transfer this data to a BIM2 transciever connected in a computer by serial port...... i wanted to used Visual basic in for acquiring the data and log this in a data base for mapping the location of the robot...i use Pic Basic programming for the robot.........how could i used Pic Basic to store this data (distance and no. of turns), then enable the transciever( 0-transmitter or 1- receiver) for the BIM 2.....to send this data wirelessly to the BIM 2 connected in to a computer???????and How could i retrieve this data receive for visual basic form programing ????

simple obstacle detection is easy.. but for sensing the distance you need ultrasonic sensors...and for counting number of turns by motor.. you need to use an encoder.why not make a simple autonomous robot?
