can we use a dc supply for a rice cooker? we had a proposal of an automatic rice cooker and water dispenser using a gsm module but the problem is how to minimize the hazard such as fire.
anyone pls help..
or do you have any suggestions to improve the project proposal..

Hello 007,

you have not given full details of your project, but you can safely control AC 230/110V using Triac/SCRs and have isolation to your main board using Optocouplers

hi keipi,
fire hazards cannot be effectively controlled by using lower DC voltages as lower voltages can only control human shock hazards. To control fire hazards u have to use flameproof(FLP) (cast alumina or SS) enclosures into which u can even use 230V operated devices. U can just enclose the hardware into a standard FLP enclosure conforming to the IP standard for fireproof enclosures.

Hi keipi_007,

We have a similar project which come in my mind. We have a title of
Integrated the rice/water dispenser and rice cooker which do the following task.
1.You can input how many kilo of rice you want to cook after that it will be directly put to the pot and the water will be automatically go out from the faucet .
2. When the rice and water is in the pot, there is motor at the bottom of the pot that will mixed it. The water will also out in the pot for 3 consecutive times.
3. After 3 times of mixing the rice and water. The 4 water go out in the faucet will not be taken and this the time the rice will be cook.

Anyone can help me how to apply it in microcontroller and what is your suggestion to do this.

Thanks,
