Hi Guyzzz,

Does anyone has the design idea of Power Line Communication. How it can be implennted.

Power Line Communication (PLC) is a technology that uses power lines to both supply electric power and as well as to transmit data. Electricity travels in large, slowly changing waves , while data signals move in small, quickly changing waves. Since these waves travel at different speeds, there is no mutual interference when they travel together. This makes it possible to send data signals through power lines, and access the Internet from power outlets. Original Panasonic HD technology uses this principle to provide the large data transmission capacity and high speed of the HD-PLC Ethernet Adaptor.

Hi sanath,

Power line communication is not new and its been in practice since long time.
its called as X10 protocol and is widely used in remote controlled applications

the idea is to send data ( 0 or 1) during zero crossing period of AC sinewave, during this inactive period a hi-freq pulse is sent over the power cables.

similarly at the Rx end there is a decoder which translates this bursts of hi-freg as 1

you can find more about this subject, just google for" X10 modules" or "X10 protocol"

Thank you Arun for the kind information :-)

i will go through that X10 Protocol and will get back on the design issues of that.

Thinking whether it can be used for efficient Power Theft detection by combining it with TDR technique.
