Hi all,
I have BASCOM code for 8051 based LED 5*7 dot matrix display. but it can only display english font. I want to display Hindi fonts on it. The code includes ASCII values for english font how to convert them in hindi ASCII font values.PLZ help. I want to place my display on a spiritual place where hindi fonts are req. for sanskrit shlok display.

english need 5x7, hindi need 7x7 (i think). so create font first later do testing.. logic will remain same.

Ok but how to build hindi fonts.:-|

First break the Hindi letter into 8X8 matrix on paper, find the hex value for each row and do this for all other letters, in your case if you know the Sanskrit shlok then build only those letters.

Hi arun sir unfortunatly i have code & hadware for only 5*7 matrix.is'nt it possible to brake hindi fonts in 5*7 matrix.

well thats possible.. it just depends on you how you design it. when your matrices are connected you can send data the way you want. so there is no hard and fast rule for driving LED matrices

hi...
i have one question in this. incase we dont't know what line we have to display in hindi, how can we do that? i mean if i want to dislplay a sms in hindi on a dot matriz, is it possible? i have been able to display sms in english, so was wondering if its possible to display hindi characters also.

Hi battu,
what resolution u r using for english display? hindi fonts needs higher resolution. you can replace custom hex values of hindi fonts to some less used special charecters like *%$ . however it is not a perfect method to use.
