Hello ucians,

I am new to this site. I am a software engineer by profession and a hard core electronic enthu

I was trying to generate some ideas on noise cancellation head phone.
There are a few available on the internet which I tried long back and failed. The circuits I have tried are analog (using op-amps).
I plan to use the digital techniques to achieve the same.

Ideas in this regard are welcome

even i used analog circuits for noise suppression never tried digital..
i don't know where TPS is.. he can help us i think.. coz he is really good in core electronics..

For digital synthesis, I think we just need to look for an IC.. what you say?

Perhaps we can have his ideas too.

It would not be digital synthesis, but a small Real Time software which will do the job for us using inexpensive components

A noise cancellation circuit, basically inverts the incoming audio signal. Op amps can be used by connection to the inverting terminal to get a out of phase output. Since, speech is a complex wave a small amount of DSP is also required, which I intend to accomplish

hi jonnaprabhu,
u did not tell wether u r gona use a chip / controller etc....
u see for noise cancellation... u would need analog circuit...
but if u mean nois suppression.. u can use dsp technology....
ehich can be done using any controller ... all we need is to take digital data .... pass it thru a smoothening algorithm... the simplest dsp technique... and then give the new smoothened output...
the smoothening algorithm can be as simple as the mean value algorithm... it can be implemented even on 89c51 !!!!!...
if u need a better algo rithm we can design special filters... (software chebyschev....etc....).. it is more complex and might require greater ram.....
if u want it done the perfect way... u can use a dsp proccessor (TI or AD)....
I have tried and done it on TMS 6xxx series dsp.. works well...
but then again dsps are not master controllers/proccessors... they have to be used with other proccessors ex. ARM
but the last option would be a little expensive and not feasible for students....
hope we have enough options now

u can also refer this link for one analog technique
hope the link remains intact long enough....
