FPGA based project need urgent help

hello everyone i am interfacing a digital camera with usb interface to fpga (spartan 3e/virtexII) i am facing the problem of getting the data from camera. I read that i need to put in MAX3421e between camera and fpga, i want to know that can i just programme MAX3421e once to receive data from camera and give parallel data out or a micrcontroller always has to be present there to use this device. Please do reply if anyone knows anything. Thanks.

Max3421E is a USB Host controller, so along with firmware for this IC you need to add USB host stack for Imaging devices too to get image from camera.I am not a FPGA guy so i cant help much with the programming.
