Plz Help me on LCD

Hiiii everybody
I'm interfacing LCD162A with phillips microcontroller.I need to delete a character on the LCD when a particular key is pressed on the keypad connected to MCU.I'm not getting how to delete character.Can anybody tell me how to do it.
I'm programming in C and not using EDE702 serial LCD inteface controller.

move cursor back 1 character and then print a space.. then move cursor back 1 character.. this is done in "Digital code lock" project.. if you want you can see it..
