there is a remotely located switch, It goes ON/OFF at will and I don't have a control over it. So, I need a mechanism, whereby, I need be informed immediately, as soon as, the switch goes OFF.So,I have plan to work on Mobile based solution, which will be interfaced with the switch through a micro-controller. As soon as the switch goes OFF, the micro-controller would send a SMS to a certain number...plz help me plz....

mobile based solution means that GSM Modem
use a GSM Modem use its at commands

Try searching the GSM forums for ideas, this kind of project has been discussed many time before.

there are lot of topics in GSM forum that talk about working with SMS. Please go through them. download AT command manual for a GSM modem and start working with it.
