Which compiler is good for PIC?

hey everyone.. i just need suggestion on PIC compilers.. please tell me which one is good.
Compilers that are known to me..
MicroC, PICC (Hitech), CCS, MPlab
if any other available please let me know..
one more thing.. MPLab free of cost?

ccs best commercially.....
Hitech PICC catching up fast!!!! better for students...
microC best for lazy people like me u will get spoilt using it...
personally i wud vote for HITECH PICC

as im using MPLAB, so far it is free. rite shyam? im still struggling with my data acquisition system.

MPLAB is just editor.. you need to install an assembler or a compiler to work with MPLAB.

if you r using MOLAB i.e
u already have a free and best assembler MPASM ..
too bad microchip doesnot provide a free c compiler

hi ajay!according to me HITEC PICC is the best compiler lots of example programs are available on net and HITEC PICC works with mplab and the tool is also cheap u get a debugger + programmer for around 6K to 7K which i think is very cheap for such plateform download the evaluation version for hitec its available on net just integarte it with mplab and u get started!
