hey guys, i need a help.!
i programmed my (only) atmega162 using my small programmer, then i made a mistake and put it wrong in my board
the XTAL1 is connected to ground instead of GND
SCK is connected to VCC instead of RESET

I put it one pin down.. you get it.

i didn't suspect there is a problem, but when i want to reprogram it , i was surprised:
uisp -dprog=dapa -dlpt=/dev/parport0
Atmel AVR ATmega163 is found.

can i just use it, or??
any advice??

any controller is recognized from its signature bytes.. it may be possible that there is something wrong internally after you connected it the otherway.
try to program it. maybe its possible to use it. just toggle all ports and check on CRO if all pins are working then its fine...

I still have no idea.. why its showing ATMega163

hi Ajay:
it wasn't showing atmega163 really. it was showing different signatures each time.

i tried programing it
Reading############################################# | 100% 0.00s

avrdude: Device signature = 0xffffff
avrdude: Yikes! Invalid device signature.
Double check connections and try again, or use -F to override
this check.

when i use -F : it programs the chip , but my MM didn't get anything. :mad

i just start to loose my patient with it..

hey, thanks for the

it happens with everyone , thank god we are fine.
now i am playing with my mega32 , but i must be carefull - it the one and only now -

the proplem is that i am using a cheap programmer and my breadboard so the chip is grasped from here and put over there all the time.

its better to make a simple test board with all pinouts and stuff.. so you can just connect things with wires.

hi ajay:
can u give me such a schematic for the board. i need it to be a programmer
and a test board in the same time so that i can test my serial, ADC, LCD, etc
stuff with it.

can i make it in a simple breadboard , i do not like smell of soldering.

thanks.

well you just need to make your board once.. not everytime soldering is good..
start your schematic.. will help you as you go forward..
