Need some ideas

I need some ideas related to automobile based projects like garage door opening automatically, Parental control in car.. etc.

You already posted one idea.. "Garage door opening". implement that what you mean by parental control in car?

seat-belt warning system that pings the driver and mutes the radio until both the driver and front-seat passenger fasten their belts like this so on.

well I like the idea of that but... I am just thinking of feasibility. In modern cars (BMW etc) you can do that via CAN I believe but again protocol is not open. what about in normal cars? notify of max speed and all is ok... but controlling stereo volume, speed of vehicle (in say Maruti Alto) how is that going to be possible?

may be buy a new car?

It is possible in modern cars (BMW) as well as normal cars. Search for OBD-2 Protocol and specifications. My car - Ford figo is OBD-2 compliant. After 2010, OBD-2 has come in almost all cars.

Via OBD you can change the calibrations of vehicle parameters like sensors threshold value etc.
As i am working in automobile domain and have control over ECU of vehicle software i want to implement this logic on this directly as a first prototype.
So i was collecting some inputs from you guys for this.
