Hello guys I've a doubt regarding IR sensing circuit, I have a IR Transmitter LED and IR Receiver LED . But my circuit which is to detect interruption of ir signal to receiver does not work. I was wondering if there's a difference between the ordinary IR LED Receiver Pair and TSOP1738 - Infrared Sensor .

Thanks
Arul

TSOP is a photo transistor + demodulator combo chip which removes your carrier from the data signal and give you output data directly. where as IR LED receiver is nothing but a photo diode (usually) or a photo transistor. If you're using a photo diode then I would recommend you using a photo transistor which can give you better performance + range.

Apart from this we have similar project in our download section you can use the same detector circuit that is used in the project. It will make things simpler. rest is your coding

PS: Do not forget to share your project with us.

there are two types of diodes ir rx which is coated with black and the ir tx which is transparent. But you will need the reverse bias the ir rx to make it work.
