SNMP Agent on 8-bit Atmel in C

Hi all....

I'm trying to implement a Atmega2560 as an SNMP-Agent (C-programming). My agent interacts with a PC(NMS) using MOXA(NE4100) card which does RS232- Ethernet, vice-versa conversion. My agent requirement is to answer setrequest command sent by PC,this is done by implementing getresponse (inside PC) by the Agent. I need to know how do i start with, i need some basic implementable steps.. I've googled out some info on SNMP-MIB-RFC1213 and ASN.1. I also searched for libraries for encoding and decoding RFC1213 MIB. But couldn't find any helpful plain resources... If any links are available as to how to implement this using 8-bit microcontroller in C language, Please share it...

Let me start by saying that I have no experience with SNMP
or the Atmega2560.
However as you asked for any help you can get I will make some suggestions
based on where you are up to.

First some questions please answer them all.

Is this a school /college project or a practical task?.
Do you have an SNMP manager running on your PC ?.
Have you been able to send and receive through the NE4100 ?.
Do you have experience programming the Atmega2560 ?.

1. Its a pratical task...
2. SNMP manager is implemented using LabView. using supporting library tools for LabView.
3. Yes. NE4100 requires configuration using NPort . As its done i'm able to send receive plain bytes in SNMP format on top of UDP(Transport Layer)
4. Yes

I'm not able to find the basic implementable steps.. I'm been reading out in internet.. some posts are recommending to implement 'ans.1 compiler implementation' in Atmega2560 and runtime generation of MIB. I still not got a complete understanding of what that means.
