Hello.
I'm very interested on your home automation over intrnet project. Can I built the project using AT89s8252 instead of AT89c51?? if yes, is there any modification needed on the hardware and software?
Your answer and recommendation are highly appreciated..

if the pin configuration is same, then you can easily replace the AT89C51 with AT89S8252 keeping the ports used same as in the circuit diagram.
As software written is for the basic 8051 Core. so if you are using the same pins and ports for the appliances and other things, there is no use to make any changes in the software.
You can check the circuit and compare the pin configuration if that S8252 fits the circut then ok.. if not then tell me so i can advice you what you can possibly do.

hey rickey i also think that we have to more improve this project by following way
1)it should also work on internet
2) there should be eeprom so that it can store previous setting
3) the communication should be two way, mean it should warm user by mail for any fault condition
4)the circuit board should also have control button to change outputs in case of off line computer

and i thing there is a extra room in forum for developing and improving the project for more better

what's your opinion rickey :-|

for first point.. i must say.. Its already made to work over internet
2) Previous settings?? what that means?
3) there is no fault detection right now.. well you can implement if you want.. this is just a small project to show that automation can be done easily and in a cheap way. Other stuff can be added if you are making a final product or something.
4) This is a good point to think on..! This didn't come in my mind while designing, but later it came.. i think.. we can connect push buttons or some keypad to do this function.

thank's for the reply
1) on first means , i want to say to use more better way(like gui based interface) to control over internet, not from command line
2) previous setting means. suppose we switch 'ON' two devices. then it should remain its status even a power failure happened there
