hello sir,
we need a smoke detector in our project,i happened 2 see the photoelectric smoke detector on how stuff works, but will it work......ne idea
and ya is it possible to build a cheap ionization detector,i noe its radioactive.but ne chance we can build it?

no ionization chamber is something which is very precise in its construction so its not easy to make it at home or anything.. rather you really want a high sensitive smoke detector then you can try searching for one in market. That might cost you high..

But i suggest you making a simple photoelectric smoke detector which is easy to make. you just need a small T-Shape pipe in which one end you can have an IR LED and the other end of the perpendicular shaped pipe in T you can have a photo detector like a photo transistor. and its really very simple to make.

As projects are just for demonstrative purpose so all you need to show is things work.. it should not have to be exact the same working product.. just have to be a model of what your real project is.. hope you are getting me.

So try to make a small circuit for the photo detection.. I guess you guys are already done with the working of a smoke detector

Hi,
I am also working on the same project. But there are slight changes in my project. I am not designing any of the detector circuits, instead I am using toggle switches to simulate the inputs. Once the AVR ATMega32 gets triggered, by any switch or combination of switches, it triggers the alarm and send SMS to the cell phone.
I need some assistance to complete my project. Anybody can help me. I will appreciate that.

Thanks,
Rahul

Friends,
So far my progress is as follow:
1) Just received AVR kit (STK500)
2) Designed RS232 communication architecture
3) Got all the software required, I believe, for example AVR Studio4, WINAVR,
4) Waiting for components that I ordered.
5) Learning AVR programming, and AT commands, and how to send SMS using Nokia phones
6) But still struggling which phones to use, either Siemens or Nokia

siemens is preferred, use simulator to test your serial communication program.

try google for avr simulator.

aa.. so you're talkin about FBUS, but the protocol information in able link is only applicable to nokia 3310, do u know this? if yes then i guess you've got the whole
