Hello, I am trying to upgrade my sim900A firmware to 1137B03SIM900A64_ST_ENHANCE.
But, errors like
"err 000- Error during load command"
"err 000- Error during download application in flash"
"err 306- Error during acknowledgement waiting"
"err 306- Error during download data via Boot ROM"
"err 306- Error during download loader in RAM"
are occuring everytime.

I have already tried all the baud rate options in Simcom_Sim900 Customer Flash Loader V1.01, but the problem remained same. Read few posts about this problem but nothing helped. Please suggest me any idea to overcome this.

Where did you get the firmware from? Is it official firmware?

I got the firmware from here,
http://dostmuhammad.com/blog/latest-enhance-firmware-for-simcom-sim900-module-1137b03sim900m64_st_enhance/
I don't think that the problem is in firmware.
Can you suggest more to troubleshoot the problem, as I am new to all of these and have no idea.
Also tell me what details you need to figure out the exact problem.

Can you tell us which module you have and
exactly how you are connecting to it.
According to the attached document, the baud rate
is fixed at 115200bps, 8 bit, no check, 1 stop bit, no flow control.

You are using a USB to serial converter.
Some converters can cause problems, especially on laptops,
try other converters.
A PC with a real serial port is best, if your module can accept
RS232 voltages.

I think the problem is firmware you're using is for SIM900 not SIM900A. Please understand there may be hardware changes that's the reason they kept four different part number for same series (SIM900, SIM900A, SIM900B, SIM900D).

Visit this page for complete list of firmwares available for SIM900A and try to flash the one suits your need. Do not flash unless you really feel you need to do it.

Hello Mr.ExperimenterUK & Ajayji,
I have already tried the firmware 1137B03SIM900A64_ST_ENHANCE, which is for SIM900A, I got it from http://dostmuhammad.com/blog/sim900-firmware-update-tutorials-appnotes/
in the images from my previous reply you can see the name of firmware, its for SIM900A, and error was there at that time.

But when nothing helped, I also tried the firmware of SIM900(I know it will not work, but still I experimented) and that also failed.
My aim is to flash it by 1137B03SIM900A64_ST_ENHANCE, so that I can use DTMF function.

Now, I am not able to change my module's baud rate also, as the memory is erased(it was automatic by default).

My device is this:
http://www.evelta.com/semiconductors-and-actives/communication/gsm-modem-sim-900

Its SIM900A GSM modem, I connect it with my Laptop using USB-to-Serial cable. The calling & SMS functions were working fine, but I needed DTMF also and hence tried to change the firmware.

The connection may be good enough for SMS but not good enough
for the flashing software.
Try a PC with a proper serial port.
Use a different serial cable and power supply.
Basically something in your setup does not work,
so change as much as possible.

Your suggestion worked Mr. ExperimenterUK. I tried the same thing with different USB-to-Serial cable and another PC and then successfully changed the firmware of my sim900A.
Thank you so much for the help.
