hi,
referring to the design on http://www.8051projects.net/downloads196.html. I would like to know if i can change the relays with any mosfet or igbt. i cant seem to find a suitable type of mosfet/igbt to control an AC 240V 2kW heater. can anyone help me?
I really appreciate your help. Thanx

instead of searching for MOSfets , i would suggest u search for solid state relays which contain the MOSfet and due driving/isolating ckt inside it. Ask for a SSR with an overrated current rating ( as ur load current is around 8~9 A, ask for a rating of about 15~20A). the SSR usually operates on a dc voltage from 3V to 30V.
but they come much costlier than relays.

Hello Neo_himura,
you can make your own SSR with an Optocoupler and Triac, i have made many to control AC loads without use of Relays.
you can use MOC3021 opto and BTA16 Triac, but note that you have to use suitable heatsink for triac (General thumb rule is triac dissipates 1 watt for every 100watt load).
if you can get MOC3041opto it will be still better bcoz it has Zero cross detector.

BTA16, BTB16 and T16 are not available in my place. What other triacs can i replace it with?

you can use BTA12, if you can't get that one, you may have to use 2 SCRs - TYN612 connected back to back ( two SCRs will make one Heavy duty Triac !)
All the Best !
