check dis one :
http://discussion.forum.nokia.com/forum/showthread.php?t=102137
it says 6030 phone doesn't have external modem at all: modem section in this phones (if exists) doesn't have physical contacts with technological plug, there is no any special microcontroller neither in cable, nor in phone, that will allow to transfer modem data, therefore no modem drivers and/or programs exist for this phone.
it means 6030 doent support AT commands ???....
if its not ...then plz guide me in chooing a cheap set tht doesnt require any drivers/software...& tht easily obey AT commands....thnx...

how bout going for a GSM modem instead of a GSM phone? modem will do the same thing for u, all u need is little care in designing its circuit. anyways..

regarding phones, i would suggest u to go for T610 if u can arrange from market. its ideal for GSM projects.

Few things you could do:

1. Verify integrity of cable, simply use datasuit with it or as ajay said, short the TX and RX pins and see if you get an echo even when you've turned the local echo off in HT.

2. See which COM Port are you using, when you plugin the phone for the first time and if the other end of the phone is USB (NOT RS232), means the pc suit will install a modem driver for the USB version, it is kinda simulated RS232 and it assigns a virtual com port to your phone's gsm modem, find it out from control panel or device manager and then use that com port in HT

3. If you're planning on using an MCU->Phone connection, do NOT use a phone with USB datacable, as normal MCUs (AT89X5X/805X) dont support usb and even if they do its a hell of a job writing drivers for it, so use a phone which has serial db9 connector on the other end.

yeah i know this qais!...so far i used all d data cables for nokia 6030,3100 havin db9 connector on their other end.....not a USB data cable b4 tryin them in HT...i checked d COM port(which is always COM1) every time in DEVICE MANAGER b4 usin it in HT....bt it wasnt workin....i dont thnk so tht there'll b any problem in d cable...anywayz i m givin it a last shot wid C100 and nokia 6610i...both supports AT commands....if still i get a problem...then GSM Modems r gnna b my last choice as Ajay said....

well you give those phones a try. I hope they will work.
as for GSM modems, SIMCOM is good option for you, you can check out prices in local market. They can do everything a phone can do

I checked price of a GSM modem with Brains in my city, it was 8k PKR.

You should work on FBUS imo.
