I'm sticking to my original plan, automated rice planting ..and yes Davesgarage, i'm planning a conveyor-type system but the cartriged-seedling is not on my plan so i'm going to include it (if you may allow...and i hope you would...) which makes me wonder if i have to collaborate with other students from the agriculture dep't.... ...

so my task as of now is to furnish the "new proposal" ...

Of course you can use that idea. This is a public blog, and anything said here is public knowledge, and therefore free to be used by anyone...

It sounds like a challenging effort, and I wish you luck in your endeavors...Don't forget about humidity, and the effects it can have on electrical and mechanical systems...
