Hi All,
I dont know wether this is the right Forum to post this query, but actually i have coded a UART driver based on ARM cortex, I just wanted to check /test its functioning invoving some real time aspects, i mean want to transmit data at one end and cross check it at the other end, i found model sim, (tool by mentor graphics) very suitable for this in whihc i can see the interrupt invocation, register contents and complete flow of diagrams(even wave diagrams, and data flow diagrams), but due to some license issues i am helpless , i cant use it any more, I am stuck ..:(...
can any one suggest me an alternate licensefree tool, to make my life cofirtable again...!!

:-)

if u are using cortex-M3 families ... have tried demo version of Real view mdk3.10...
there u can check the registers content .. interrupt invocation ....special peripheral status ... including uart....
hope it would help....
moreover it would not ask u for key or license as long as ur ode is less than 16k

you can also use Proteus VSM as far as simulation of UART is concerned
and for IDE there are lot of options..
if you like linux environment then you can compiler your programs directly on linux or use cygwin if working on windows.
You can make use of CrossWorks for ARM by Rowley Associates.. it also have simulator in it..
rest is your choice.. but open source is best
