voice recorder

Hi, i plan to build a voice recorder that records voice from user and convert it into mp3 format in real time b4 storing it into external storage. Is 8051 suitable for the task or i need to use other uC/FPGA to implement it?

no 8051 is not capable of doing this. go for some DSP processor. And converting to mp3 format is not easy for any controller.
