hey ajay!!!
thanks a million for the tutorial! atleast i got started on doing something!!! ur r really great dude!!!
am still having a few doubts.
1. Am using MuVision2 (eval ver.) after doing build, it doesn show all the messages(in the o/p window) as in ur window.(i have attached a screenshot)
2. Now how can i do simulation of code along with external circuitry? is it possible to do in keil? For eg to do a blinking of an LED, can it be done on keil or i have to download it onto a chip n do physically only?
3. Wat next do i do now?
4. How good is MP Lab? I got it from my college as i was unable to install keil as full version.
Thanks a million once again ajay, the tutorial helped me alot as i was just wasting time unable to figure out wat to do!!!

still u can use keil for simulation.....
steps....
1. click [options for target] on the right of build button...
2.select [output] tab
3. click right on [create hex] radio button
4. select [ok]
5. rebuild all files..
6. ctrl F5 start debug...
7.from menu bar (top most) select peripheral....
8.select ur io port
9. now frm debug menu select run....
there u are u will find ur pins blinking....

if you want to see the real working stuff then make a hardware for it... as i said.. if you cannot afford a programmer go for RD2. one of the best option for learners like you, cheap and easy...

MP Lab is mainly used for PIC microcontroller... and of course there might be little difference in the versions of keil.
you can download 2K working demo of keil Microvision 3 from www.keil.com

thanks shyam n ajay,
well for now am able to use keil thanks to ajay.
I was told by my senior that can use mplab for it. its similar to keil and after simulating the code for the 8051 we can also simulate it with external circuitry like leds lcds etc by using another tool called OCEANS.is that possible in keil also?
for now am planning to stick to doing simulations n in a month or 2 i can go in for the programmer also if am able to pull it out of my budget
Shyam i really couldn get the options u mentioned.
1. where does the [options for target] come?
2. where is the build button!
3. cant find the create hex opton either!!!
either am not lookin in the right place or something is seriously wrong with me!

no you cannot simulate with external circuit. I have not seen the OCEANS yet.. but i am sure you can use your hex file to simulate using that software..

in the work space.. you have
Target 1, right-click on it to go to options.. and then follow the shyam's step for creating hex file.. or i have to make another tutorial lol!

Actually MPLAB is an IDE specially developed for Microchip ic's
so only with the help of mplab u cant even simulate codes we require an other software like HI-tech C compiler for compiling codes, and while starting the MPLAB the programe ask u to select the IC so if the IC is not in the list we can not use that cross-compiler for our project, similar is the case with KEIL.I hope it will be usefull.

sorry for being a dodo n not realizing where the button was!
Thnaks for the info on mplab juneid. wel thats the software we use in colege i was told for the 8051 lab (which we are yet to start).
hey ajay i was reading some posts about some led display someone had some doubts with some 4 bit data to the display n then u had also put some screenshots of the simulation u had done of the display. how did u do that?
