Hi i have an idea for remote home security,

Project is as we already familiar with controlling home appliances using cell phone DTMF or GSM modem.
My idea is to keep an camera lets say at certain place in house, where when we are far away from the home, we should make a call to the circuit and turn ON ligthts at the area for few seconda and take a snapshot of the moment and upload it to server or sending as an MMS to certain number and then turning OFF the lights.

So by the way we can able to visulazie our home via picture at any time.

Hence i need you peoples help, please suggest me on this and how can i take snapshot because it needs an software to do so, so shall i use small camera cell phone or something else?

Thanks.

Well MMS is not supported by most of GSM modems available i think. maybe you can use email to send your images or send to server as you said. its not a difficult thing to do.

all you need is a GSM modem.

Thanks..
But what kind of camera i can use, and how can i get that image data to my circuit to send?. Also u said that i can easily mail that image , so do i need a system??
or I do not familiar with web brouser, if the thing via web browser means, please send me some tutorial link. If possible give me over a view of this system in two line. That would be helpful for me to make the things easily.

well you took me wrong.
and in GSM bandwidth is not enough to send video, So better to satisfy yourself with image only you can search for "Serial Camera" if you can find one over internet. There is one Chinese vendor selling serial camera at 45$ cost. just search over net.

Once you are able to get the image, you can use SMTP protocol commands to send email, I dont know how to attach image using those commands so you can do the second option to send image to server directly and then email the link of image and also that image can be viewed by user. To receive that image on you need to build a server on the other side. Things may be difficult but thats the only way to do

Thanks, i did not mistake you, my previous reply to TPS and you.
I do not familiar with web server, can you give me some basic application to understand web server or any tutorial page with basic codes?..
And cant we upload it to somewhere on net?, where we can get the image anywhere using net(PC) without help of server in receiver side?
That was my aim.

to receive data from modem you need just a tcp server, not necessarily a web server. so you can directly send data on TCP server. there on server you can do creation of file and image data can be directly stored to server harddrive which can be accessed by anyone.

you can create your own server on your PC too if you want. Just install apache web server. or a server bundle which can be downloaded from internet search for "Xampp".

if you want your device to be a webserver then it should be efficient enough in terms of memory, response, speed and bandwidth etc. to act like a server. In my view PC is not a bad option to keep in between. it will act as server to both user as well as the device. and can do a lot of good jobs that your device alone cant do
