well then using those RF rx and tx modules is really very simple...
you can imagine that you are transmitting and receiving via serial UART..

Now the main thing to note here is.. you are having one receiver and multi transmitter.. how you are going to deal with this thing.. that is to be decided... you have to make a protocol which tells each tag or user how to communicate with the main receiving station..

i can help only as for as xbee module is concerned...
there i can tell u how to target specific rf client module...
for other modules even i'll have to study...
so first for the time being let us focus on the rf module availibility there in your area..

:mad donno if forum playing games :mad i just cud not find my previous post so i'll repeat:
@ ajay...
the tags have some data already writtn onto it.. ex. abcdsks43256 (by the manufacturer).
now the reader reads the serial data through uart then it takes it as a key and the programmer (developer) links it with a database..

if u wish to get yourself blank tags u will require an RFID writer to write onto the tags... which is really costly.

@janjua:
well u want to limit ur range througout th university ... well that is a long range

try the following:

since your distance is long...
u cannot go with rftags...
instead u will have to use Rf modules (transceivers ) to communicate amongst themselves...
devide ur university area into cells... as in picture a,b,c,d etc.. and master.
each of a b c d will detect client modules and append cell no (a,b,c etc..) and transmit to master rf where the database will be maintained for detection and tracking....
one of my students did this project successfully.. in a small part of their college though..:D

well he can make same RFID like thing.. with normal RF transmitter.. the one he mentioned in the post.
do not use antennas so the range will be reduced significantly.. or use a shorter antenna.
so user has to come close to the attendance booth to mark him present.. that is little bit similar to that of RFID thing..
and we can also make a power saver module for attendance.. by putting the controller in power down mode. the programming can be done this way..

So to send the data again or to mark the attendance user has to press a reset and the whole program executes from starting.. so only for a fraction of time the circuit will use full power of battery.

Suggestions on this?

yeah u r right...
but he did mention something like tracking....
tracking which proffessor is in which area of university i guess...

@Shyam

No we arent focusing on tracking yet.. at the time being we jus considering on A person enters...enter his/her pin code...and server recieve the pin code..match it from directory that to whom this pin code was assigned and make his present mark.. This is the first step.. All other Steps are after this.:)

Now the other thing... first we will made a demo version or lets say first version.. n that will be only for a demo in a room...So suggest me which module i should choose or kindly list me all those things which will be used in the circuit ..then i ill check the availibilty of those things...:)

And i like the client/master idea n thnx Shyam and ajay.. for all the suggestion so far..

first look for the availability and then check module datasheet for connection information. we are here to help.. at every step

where does RF communication come in..... isnt it being used for the sake of being used...

i think he want to use it like i said.. RFID method.. with lesser range.. so that he has to actually come to the booth to mark his attendance.
