hi again i am i need some advice

well my initial plan is to make a project that utilizes a microcontroller and a sensor
specifically PIC16F877A cause the only burner i got is for low end PICmicro controllers another reason is that i have seen other student made their projects using PIC and a sensor.
another problem i have is that i have no idea what are kind of sensors except for a very few.

so i need some pretty decent project make that utilizes only low end PICmicro controllers

also our design professor is hard. for a proposal to be accepted searches the net for the the same project proposal before he accepts it

i got some pretty good proposal but the problem is that i cant possibly make it because of its difficulty, my financial capability and time constraints.

i cant post my proposal here because it might show up in google by i could PM it

recap
1. i need a proposal using PIC and a sensor OR
2. you could suggest an project that you could think of AND
3. i need advice for the proposal i had in mind

thanks XD

hi drivex
which type of sensors u need in your project
well pic 16f877 can do it all
for key points u need to write in project proposal
ur design professor tell point to limit you

Just about any project you can imagine will have been done somewhere before and will
appear on the net.
Find an idea you like, and think you can do, then do it your own way.

PIC 18xxx series chips are much the same price as the 16xxx series and generally
better devices.
Also Microchip do a free 18 series compiler.
Most programmers for the 16 series can do the 18s

You can PM me a copy and I will pass on a copy to any "safe" member that wants to comment.

@majoka
well that is my problem that i dont know a wide range of sensors
except for photoresistor and thermistor or something XD
could you cite some?

@ExperimenterUK
well my programmer is picallw using pic16pro
you guys familair with this burner and could it do PIC 18xxx?

could PIC 18xxx series chips do USB?

hi drivex
let say temperature sensors
analog tempertaure sensors
1) lm35
2) lm34
3) thermocouple
4) RTDs
5) Thermistors
and many more of AN series
digital:
1) ds1820 or ds18B20 or ds18S20
2) ds16xx series
and many more

humiditysensors:
hih 3160

even u try to serch in google u will get every type of sensor

could PIC 18xxx series chips do USB?

yes pic 18f4550 and other too
it can send data to usb port and receive from pc also
it can do low level communication to pc

correct me if im wrong.
temperature sensors and photoresistor should use ADC to be able to use it in a microcontroller. by varying the voltage read by the microcontroller

so what are applications of humidity sensor? aside from the obvious ones that i could think of XD sorry got really no idea XD

so what knowledge requirement do i need in using PIC 18xxx

if ur using analog temperature sensors then u need ADC now lm35 is an analog sensor it need adc on the other hand ds1820 is a digital sensor it need no adc it need simple 1 pin of controller
some photo transistor vary its value from 0 to 5 volt that need ADC
some has output in 0 and 1 form means digital form that no need of ADC that need simple i/o pin

so what are applications of humidity sensor?

humidity sensor fingd out the percentage of moisture in air.

so what are applications of humidity sensor? aside from the obvious ones that i could think of XD sorry got really no idea XD

XD series ids for pressure sensor now it also can be in digital and analog too

so what knowledge requirement do i need in using PIC 18xxx

here is the famous book of muhammad ali mazidi
download it and read in a 2 week u will be able to get start on it

download from this link if get problem tell me it should be in ebook section also

I checked the website for your burner, and it can do a few 18xxx devices, but is limited.
It would be better to get a programmer that can do ICSP (in circuit programming).
Clone PICKIT 2 programmers are not too expensive and make life much easier.

Some PIC 18xxx have built in USB ports to act as "Devices",most add-ons that connect to
a computer are Devices.
However USB is not easy for beginers.

more on USB,

you can however try to check microchip solutions library you will see lot of examples on USB. see If you think u can understand and use those libs. if you find any problem, post here.
