want ir LONG RANGE ciruit for reflected type ir sensor

i want a circuit for a ir sensor reflected type...for developing automatic flush system..! kindly help me guys i have circuit but it can detect hardly 10cm. i want range 2ft..!

circuit

use TSOP as receiver and 38Khz 555 timer as IR transmitter to get a longer range. This is used in our daily used TV remote. and you can image their range.

Nope i cant used that i want to use both on same pcb
want use to detect a person standing in front of sensor and when person moves flush start automatically....
so for that i have to use sensor in reflected type..!

Direct or reflected uses the same principal, but reflected needs a stronger signal and /or a more sensitive detector.
Often a TV will detect a signal reflected from walls etc.

In this case, ultrasonic may be a better option.

I think Phil is right.. as IR may behave differently with ambient light conditions. ultrasonics would be best option in this case.

your guys are not getting my point i need to detect person who stand in front of flush which in case of ultrasonic sensor can detect the person standing next to him..!example person standing in front of flush to pee the next flush may detect it as they do not work on beam phenomenon..hope my point is clear..if m wrong plz correct because i never uses ultrasonic sensors.!

ultrasonic switch is used to detect anything in front of sensor its range is not too much few cms
so i think you can use it but it will work on every object it is not necessary that it only work on human body

try to use PIR Sensor it has high directive beam

lol.. I think your use case is different. but just u cannot use toilet having long range IR. as IR is also a beam which spreads out as you go far similar to ultrasonic. If you want a directed beam for detection purpose then use laser detection method so that it only detects obstacle in front of it not sides.
