Hi

I am looking to buy development board for studing, I have had a little experience with PIC development board in university and they seemed to be very good for studing.

At moment I cannot decide which is better Arduino or Microchip. When looking in forums I found that Arduino is more like programming in C and easier, is that true?

I want to specify controlling DC motors.

Could anybody list some Cons and Pros with those development boards?

Thanks in advance !

I wont list pros cons coz they are subjective to ones interest and requirements. Arduino is different in the sense you only work on the logic part and you need not to worry about how things are working at lower level, e.g. say you want to communicate to a device over i2c, Arduino provide library for i2c and you just need to call those functions to communicate to slave device without thinking how things are going in underlying layers. whereas incase of microcontrollers like PIC and others you get best of both worlds, you get libraries as well as you get option to write your own code. this gives a bit of experience when it comes to understanding hardware and controller architecture.

You can decide on what basis you want to buy a dev board. When it comes to choosing between Arduino and Microchip it is mostly user's choice. Both are same but working with controller gives you more room for customization than Arduino maybe.
