Stepper Motor Stalling

Hi Everyone,
I got a bipolar stepper motor, I got some serious issue with this.
I observed that when my stepper motor is held in my palm the motor stall, however when I hold it tight with my two hands the motor will not stall.
Is anybody knows what's going on with my stepper motor?
I used STs L6208 driver for this and run the motor at 4000Hz.

4000Hz sounds way too fast to me.
How is it at 500Hz or 50Hz ?
