Hi

I am looking to wire a contactor to a 208V 3 phase supply. The contactor coils are rated for 208V. In order for the contactor to work, should I connect one end of the contactor coil to neutral and other end to one of the lines ??

Or, should I connect the 3 lines in parallel (as each line has only 120V) and connect the output to one end of the coil and the other to neutral ??

the contactor works properly only when it gets 208 across its terminals

3 phase mains wiring is not the sort of thing to take chances with.
You really need expert local advice.


That said...
If you can provide details of the contactor you are using we may be able to advise.

This diagram from a recent thread shows how one kind of contactor,with phase failure protection is wired.
