Bidirectional Visitor Counter using 8051

Hello guys I've been working on a bidirectional visitor counter using 8051 microcontroller (AT89C51). My circuit is assembled and programmed , increments and decrements when manual pin input is given but it does not work with IR Transmitter and Receiver pair .

I'm using the regular IR Led and similar two legged IR Receiver pair .

Did you test your IR pairs individually? are they giving the right pulse when you interrupt the IR beam?
