Hello All,
I want to connect normal speaker (as a siren) to 8051 thrugh relay, If Speaker wire is disconnected then controller should get an information about this. How can this be done.
Initially i thought of sending a short duration of test pulse and check the siren is working or not through a microphone. But this requires a ADC,
Is there any other way where i can get to know if the load is disconnected/short circuit to battery/short circuit to Gnd.
Thanks
Kiran

Sorry about the delay in replying,
the website had a bug stopping postings.
To test the whole system,a microphone may be the best option.
You don't need an ADC.
There are many simple sound operated switch circuits out there.
In this circuit you could replace T3 with an input to your micro.

you have to set the microphone level according to environment it should not operate at surrounding noise like fan noise
i think better and better option is still a microphone it this way you will be able to know that speaker is not working not necessary that wire is braked other reasons can be
