capacitor connection in MAX-232 polarity doubt

sir i want to know if the capacitor at pin 6 in max232 is correct or it is opposite as found in this site given below

I think both ways its working... i use +ve plate with pin 6.

Please i think... your MAX232 connections are ok! better check other things like LCD, tell me.. are u getting something on LCD? because you must get "Read Message" on LCD. if it is not coming.. then LCD connections might be wrong.
also check the voltage levels on MAX232 Pin 2 and Pin 6.

One suggestion, write small programs, for serial port checking, one for LCD, and last for setting and clearing the LEDs (LEDs are fine i hope ) load them one by one.. and see which thing is not working.

yes sir we are getting Read Message in lcd and error message is as shown

also sir can we use dallas DS275 IC instead of MAX232 and if so then plz suggest the changes

check the com port settings..
it must be.. 9600 8-N-1 and Hardware flow control: None
You are receiving data but.. its not correct.
try checking on hyper terminal or something...
check the com wire.. it must be straight cable. e.g. pin2 with pin2 and pin3 with pin3.
