Hi rickey,
Im doing ur project on digital clock with alarm with DS1307.But im using AT89C52. Are thr any changes reqd for the code?
also i am able to see only the black boxes on the lcd display and nohthing else shows up. WEv chkd the circuit.
another thing, initially we had connected the microc on the base in reverse and powered th circuit...could there be a problem because of that?

also when i ran the simulator on the code. all it does is change the valueon P3 frm 5F to 7F. Is that what the code is supposed to do?

I guess.. you burnt your controller its gone now!!
black line on LCD means.. LCD is ok! and its not yet initialized.
and.. controller is burnt i guess... is it getting programmed? Please always be careful while connecting your controller.
was the controller hot when u connected in reverse? and for how long it was in the reverse way?

yes the Microc was hot after we connected in reverse, maybe it is gone. Ill check by trying to program.
The LCD was showing garbage (\\ % and lots of other signs) In between it was also responding to increment decrement keys but we couldnt get a steady output. Also the alarm is continously beeping when we power the circuit..,What could that mean??

I am not sure why this freaky behavior of controller, i mean i am not sure it is gone or not.. check it with a different one.. what is the reply!

ok the clock is up and running (the chip had gone as it turned out) but the clock is running slow. what might the problem thr?
and if we want an accuracy of 0.1 s is there any method we can use?

clock cant be slow.. as far as i know.. coz.. its hardware clock. so time will be accurate.. and u know there is about few seconds change in 2 years as per the datasheet. Please check the connection of crystal with RTC. it must be very close to the RTC. see DS1307 datasheet for crystal connection details.

the crystal should be connected far away from the RTC u mean??
ill chk the datasheet anyway

no no.. it must not be far.... crystal must be close to the pins of RTC. I think you must see the datasheet once.. there is special information given on the crystal only.
anyways.. if you think that reading of time is slow.. then that is also not the case.. everything is done very fast.. so you must see how you connected your crystal It will be great if you can put a screen-shot of working clock on the website..
don't forget... please use www.imageshack.us for image upload!!!
