Hi I am interfacing 8051 with 8255A but i am unable to get output from it. I have succeeded in reading data from the ports but fail to write data on the ports. Kindly help me in solving my problem.

hello everybody i am having a development board for 8051 the seven segment display and the keyboard are connected to the two seperate 8255 chips the seven segment display is woking fine after writing appropriate control signal. but i am unable to get anyting out of keyboard (4x4) when i put the rows on logic 1 and then at time of reading from keyboard do i need to give different control words to 8255.
keyboard is connected to the port A of 8255 please help me
