well, sanath.
firstly u need to decide what all parameters u would like to measure with the multimeter (voltages/currents/ac/dc etc..). accordingly u have to decide first on the resolution of the ADC u will be interfacing to the uC. the general purpose ADC 0808 will provide u with only 8 bit i.e. 256 counts which can be translated to only 21/2 digit multimeter. To have a higher resolution u may need a better ADC (12bit or more). A common parallel ADC with 12 bit resolution is the ICL 7109.
The second part would be the display u like to interface which can be either LCD or a multiplexed 7 segment LED display.
The last ( but not the least one)part would be the analog design part where ur different inputs like current/voltage and resistance will have to be conditioned to the levels of the ADC input.
So first decide on th specs u want from ur multimeter.

Hi I also want to build a digital multimeter. It specs are: Voltage of between 0-30Volts DC and Resistance of between 0 - 10M ohm.
Please if you could help me with the C code.
thanx:D

We can help with C code, but not write it for you.
To create a meter you will need hardware.
Do you have a design ?.

you can take a look at my voltmeter project.. there is a small text document inside will help you make ur hardware design.
its better if you use a high precision ADC, than using a normal 8-bit ADC.
